Learning about other drummers has been a huge influence on my own development and understanding of music. I hope that this blog helps you to develop you own knowledge and playing. It is only meant as an introduction to the players; go further by listening to their music, and go out and see as many drummers playing live as you can! I will add any events of particular interest to the news on the home page, so keep an eye out for things you can go to!

He won the Downbeat magazine award for best drummer for five years in a row, the Playboy award seven years in a row, and is the only drummer to win every music poll for five years in a row, including Japan, England, Europe, Australia and South America.

Jimmy Hendrix is to this day regarded as the greatest guitarist ever! I agree, but it should be recognized that he was also backed up by a fantastic rhythm section; Noel Redding on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Mitch's playing is heavily jazz orientated, but fits in seamlessly to Hendrix's songwriting, from the blues based tracks such as Red House to the psychedelic rock of tracks like If 6 Was 9.
